Finding Balance in 2026: My Word for the Year

I started 2025 with such good intentions. I wanted to post regularly, share more of my creative process, & connect with you all here. But life had other plans. By the end of the year, I was burnt out - ill, running on late nights, constantly worrying about slipping deadlines, trying to keep clients & 2 little boys happy. Despite my best efforts, I always felt on the back foot. The blog posts I planned never made it out, & the pressure just added to the overwhelm.

Looking back, I realise how easy it is to lose sight of your own creativity & wellbeing when you’re juggling everything else. Between commissions, client work, & family life, I was forgetting to take care of myself & nurture my own creative practice.

Why 2026 Is About Balance

So for 2026, my word is BALANCE. This year, I want to create harmony between my work, my art, my health, & my family life. That means carving out time for focused work on commissions, setting aside space to rest when I need it, & being fully present with my boys without feeling guilty about deadlines slipping.

Balance also means prioritising my health – moving my body to make it stronger, giving myself time to rest, & nurturing my mind alongside my creativity.Once I’m more caught up with commissions, I want to spend more time creating for myself, exploring new ideas, & reconnecting with the artist in me.

Keeping Creativity Alive with Floral Keepsakes

Working with wedding bouquets and creating pressed flower keepsakes has always been such a joy for me, but the past year taught me that joy only lasts if I make space for it. By scheduling focused creative practice into my routine, I can ensure that the art I make is meaningful – both for my clients & for myself.

This year, I’m learning to let go of the pressure to do everything at once. By giving myself boundaries & space, I can focus on the things that matter most: creating beautiful pressed flower art, taking care of my health, & being present with my family.

Moving Forward with Intention

2025 taught me that good intentions aren’t enough on their own. You need focus, boundaries, & self-care to make them a reality. For me, balance is about weaving all the important parts of life together without letting one overwhelm the rest.
