💐 Why Shipping Your Bouquet Correctly Matters

When it comes to bouquet preservation, how your flowers arrive is just as important as how they're preserved. Proper packaging & prompt posting ensures your bouquet stays as fresh & intact as possible, ready to be transformed into your piece of keepsake art.

📦 What You'll Need to Ship Your Wedding Bouquet

To get started, gather the following materials:

  • Sturdy Outer Shipping Box – a 30-40cm square box is a good size to ensure your flowers don’t get squashed

  • Smaller Inner Box – to help keep your bouquet upright during transit

  • Packing Material – crumpled newspaper, packing paper from online orders, tissue paper or packing peanuts. No plastic/bubblewrap as this can trap moisture and cause your flowers to mould.

  • Paper Towels – to keep stems moist.

  • Small Plastic Bag or Foil – to seal moisture around the cut ends of your stems.

  • Rubber Bands or String – to secure the plastic bag or foil in place.

  • Posting Form – this will be emailed to you before your wedding. If you don’t have access to a printer please write your name, contact number & email address, return posting address & florist details on a piece of paper.

🚚 How to Ship Your Bouquet for Preservation: Step-by-Step

1. Trim & Hydrate the Bouquet

  • Trim the ends of your bouquet by cutting 1-2cm off the bottom of the stems. The cut ends made by your florist will have started to dry, so doing this again will help your flowers take in some moisture while they are in the post.

  • Place the bouquet in clean water for a few hours before packing to refresh the flowers.

  • If you remember, remove your ribbon and any special items included with your flowers - if you forget, don’t worry! I will keep any ribbins etc aside to be sent back with your frame.

2. Wrap the Stems to Retain Moisture

  • Wrap the trimmed stems in damp paper towels/kitchen roll.

  • Place inside a small plastic bag, or wrap in tin foil & secure with a rubber band or twine to keep moisture sealed in.

3. Use the Double Box Method for Safe Shipping

  • Secure the smaller inner box to the bottom of the outer box using tape & place the wrapped bouquet stems inside the inner box - this will help to keep them upright & prevent the blooms from getting squashed.

  • Fill all empty spaces around the inner box & bouquet with soft paper based packing material to prevent movement.

4. Include Your Contact Info

  • Print & fill out the posting form included in your ‘before wedding’ email, or write a note with your full name, email address, phone number, & any relevant order details. This ensures we can identify your bouquet as soon as it arrives.

5. Seal & Label the Box

  • Close the outer box securely with packing tape.

  • Clearly label it with the delivery address & mark it with “Fragile – Fresh Flowers” & “This way up”.

  • Ship using a reliable overnight or next-day delivery service - I strongly recommend Royal Mail Special Delivery as I can collect your flowers first thing from my local delivery office.

  • Drop me an email to let me know to expect your flowers, please include your tracking number too!

💡 Pro Tip: If your wedding is on a Friday/Saturday/Sunday, keep your bouquet in water until Monday & post then so it isn’t sat around in a warehouse without water - this is particularly import in the summer when it could be hot! If you get married on a Thursday please post your flowers on Friday with Saturday delivery. For mid-week weddings, aim to send your bouquet the day after.
